On April 13th and 14th, 2016, the CETS annual meeting was held in Memmingen (Germany). There was obviously a lot of conversation about developments in the field of legislation and regulation in Europe, but also on developments in new surface treatment technologies and developments in the (IEC and ISO) standards.

It was also announced who had won the CETS - Henk de Man Memorial Award. The nominations were put forward by the delegates of all the CETS countries. The winner is dr. Paul Rübig. Paul Rübig was born on May 6th, 1953, in Wells (Austria) and is part of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) in the European Parliament.

Rübig, according to the board of CETS, made a great contribution to the surface treatment industry at European level through a number of occasions to act as host for the CETS breakfast meeting in Brussels. He has helped to provide a lot of attention for the surface treatment industry and in particular the SME's in this industry. Through his efforts, Rübig has made a significant contribution to raise awareness in Brussels of the importance of our industry for the European manufacturing industry.

The award will be presented during a further breakfast meeting hosted by dr. Paul Rübig in October 2016 in Brussels.

The CETS - Henk de Man Memorial Award is awarded every second year to a person or institution that has given meritorious service at European level for the surface treatment industry.
